Performance Poem
You Probably Don't Know This Yet
Dear three-year-old me
You probably don’t know this yet,
But your life is about to get really crazy.
In the next year
You will have a new baby sister
And will move away for “no reason”
You have no idea what a recession is.
As an older version of you,
I just want to tell you,
You should probably apologize to Mom and Dad
You, and I guess me, were a bad baby.
Please eat the chocolate cupcake
And don’t make a fuss over your sister’s birthday cake
And you might not be the tallest, or even medium,
But you should never let people tell you what you can be because of it.
Don’t go in the swimming pool in Pinehurst,
And NEVER feed your sister PB and J
Convince Mom and Dad to send you to DA
And please laugh at Killen when she gets mad at you for moving.
More than all of that,
Be a good person
Try to talk about stuff,
And always be open minded.
